At first I would get a top malfunction light. The top would still cycle even though the light was on. I would reinsert the trunk liner into the slots and cycle the key and top would again function. I thought it was the switch for the the top liner.I assume the hydraulic motor times out and stops by itself and the dash says top malfunction. The only way to check the lines would be to remove the suspect lines and blow them out. An alternative would be to simply replace them. You would need to top off the pump reservoir with the correct type fluid though.
