The general rule was that we could usually solo stuff from two expansions prior, with no issues. However, due to scaling, I’m hearing that’s not the case anymore. Also partially due to mechanics. People can’t solo BFA raids, at least on Mythic. Maybe some can, but afaik, most cannot.
BFA and Legion got lumped into level 50 content together. It’s more about the content being “20 levels” behind for the legacy buff to kick in rather than actually years. Of course that should mean that they both have the buff, but well it’s Blizzard. No, you’ll fail at Opulance as others have said, it is also worth mentioning several bosses before this while not impossible to solo are class specific solos. Either way if you manage to kill Opulance every boss pass this stage has some mechanic that will prevent you from soloing them.
I didn't play BfA but played Legion and I know the WoD mythics were still quite hard to solo early on. At this point legion mythics are really hard or even not doable solo. So dont count on it in the near future. 2 years from now. With a solid 3.5-4K dps, you can solo them before enrage with lots of spare time IF not by mechanics, such as Opulence or Jaina freezing block (bc BFA has no legacy, you won't be able to break the gate before freezing) But that's bc legacy isn't tuned to the default game (BFA), but one expansion below (Legion).
